A Magical Day in Naivasha with Bush Adventure
Naivasha welcomed us with a cool morning breeze and the serene sight of its famous acacia trees. Our adventure began at the historic Elsamere Lodge, once home to conservationist Joy Adamson of Born Free fame. Nestled by the lake’s edge, the lodge exuded an old-world charm, making it the perfect base for our day.
After a hearty breakfast on the terrace, we set off for a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, a jewel shimmering under the sun. As the boat gently glided over the waters, hippos peeked curiously, their heads bobbing like sentinels of the lake. Overhead, the skies were alive with the flutter of cormorants, African fish eagles and herons. Our guide’s stories about the lake’s ecosystem made the experience all the more enchanting.
The day unfolded leisurely, with time to explore the shores and marvel at the contrasts of dry land meeting lush waters. We also stopped briefly at Crescent Island, a haven for zebras, giraffes and wildebeests wandering freely against the backdrop of the lake. It was a humbling moment to walk amongst wildlife without barriers, feeling truly immersed in nature.
Lunch back at Elsamere was an experience in itself. Their famed tea and cake selection accompanied tales of Joy Adamson’s conservation work, narrated by the warm lodge staff. It was more than just a meal—it was a walk through history and passion for preserving Kenya’s beauty.
As the sun dipped, painting the horizon in hues of gold and lavender, the calm waters of Lake Naivasha mirrored the sky in a spectacular display. The day’s finale was a peaceful moment by the lake, reflecting on the magic Naivasha holds.
For those seeking tranquility, history and a touch of wilderness, Naivasha offers the perfect escape. Let Bush Adventure create your next unforgettable journey into this enchanting destination.
